Monday, August 5th - 7th Grade Tackle Football Combine/Equipment Handout - 6pm-8pm

Tuesday, August 6th - 6th Grade Tackle Football Combine/Equipment Handout - 6pm-8pm

Wednesday, August 7th - 5th Grade Tackle Football Combine/Equipment Handout - 6pm-8pm

Saturday, August 17th - 5th-7th Grade Flag Football Combine - 10am-12noon

After each combine and/or equipment handout, coaches will get together and put teams together and then communicate those teams by the week of August 19th

Week of August 19th - 7th Grade Tackle Football Practices with Ankeny and Ankeny Centennial Football Coaches - Times/Dates TBD

Friday, August 30th - Ankeny Junior Football Night at the Ankeny vs Ankeny Centennial Football Game (more info to come later)

Sunday, September 8th - First Day of Games

Week of September 9th-13th - Pictures (link coming soon - AJF provides a Memory Mate (team/individual picture)) for all registrants

Prior to Friday, August 23rd - 1st - 4th Grade Flag Football Players/Teams will be set and communicated to regarding their team

Games will start on the Sunday after Labor Day - September 8th -  and typically are between 11am and 5pm and run for 6 weeks until October 13th (one exception may be 7th grade tackle depending on number of teams where the season may be extended by a week)

Note regarding practices: If the heat index reaches 98 degrees and is still there by 4pm there will be no AJF practices allowed on that day.  AJF will send an email by 4pm to notify everyone.

Flag Football will be available for grades 1-7.

Tackle Football will be available for grades 5-7.

In 5th grade tackle, we are excited to start playing 8 or 9 man football (depending on numbers), which will consist of 3 or 4 linemen and 5 backs.  This will allow for us to have more teams in those grades as well as giving more kids the opportunity to be involved in the play.   

Weight limit for 5th grade will be 125 lbs.

Weight limit for 6th grade will be 135 lbs.

There is no weight limit for 7th grade.

What this means is that if you weigh at or over the limit, you are required to play a spot on the line on offense.  This is implemented for safety purposes.

Assuming we have the numbers we have had in the past, in 6th and 7th grade tackle, we will play 11 man football as we have in the past.  If we don't have enough for 11 man teams in 6th grade, we may adjust and play 8 or 9 man.  

For 6th grade, games will be played against other AJF teams with an occasional exception where we might have a game against a team from SE Polk.

For 7th Grade, we will be combining the teams we have in AJF with teams from Johnston, Waukee NW, and Southeast Polk Football Leagues
